It doesn't work for me either.
Have you observed any common features of the corrupt files? Like for instance using the same font or using the same type of graph?
I see that you edited the graph and applied different colors. How did you do that? Expanded the graph or did you select parts of it with direct select or group selection tool?
How did you hide the axes? Did you delete them or applied stroke "none"?
