Well, I spoke too soon...
After following the instructions to uninstall Premiere Pro CS6 (Encore CS6 not installed with Creative Cloud), the uninstaller actually uninstalled Encore instead of PP! I clearly un-checked the box for Encore and left the box for Premiere checked, but it still deleted Encore. So, I went through the process again and uninstalled PP6. After un-installation was complete, I went back to the Cloud to download PPCS6 again. I followed the instructions, but the Cloud Manager tells me my CS6 is up to date and won't allow me to install it. The problem with that is that Premiere Pro CS6 does not reside on my system anymore (but Creative Cloud seems to think it does.) Now what?
Why is this so difficult?
First of all, forget all the problems I'm having with Encore. The real question is this, "Why is a hack the only way to burn a DVD from Premiere Pro or After Effects?"
Not one person on these forums or on Adobe's support staff could offer any alternative to using Encore. And there is no "current" version of Encore that is compatible with PPCC.
How do people burn a DVD on a Mac if they don't have Encore? I used to be able to burn DVDs with iDVD, but that crapped out recently and won't burn DVDs anymore. I can create them, but it won't burn them (common with iDVD, apparently). And, you can't burn a DVD from within iMovie either. I have Final Cut Express, but that won't burn a DVD and neither will Premiere or After Effects.
According to every article I've read, every set of instructions I've found, every single support request that's been answered, there is no other way to burn a DVD on a mac unless you buy a third-party application like Toast.
I really don't understand why there isn't a current and compatible way to burn DVDs on a Mac. For all the advances in the creative applications, why would Adobe neglect the final step?
