Hi Abhishek,
- "If Proxima Nova Soft is showing up in the system fonts menu (as well as in the "manual match" dialog?), Muse is recognizing it"
Yes the four versions of Proxima Nova Soft show up in the system fonts menu and the Webfonts manual match dialog. Sounds promising! - "Does the font show up correctly in Design view?"
The font does not show up correctly in the Design view when generated in Muse, nor does it preview correctly in the system font list in Muse as noted in an earlier message:
Although I would prefer not to, I can work around that by placing it from Photoshop which is how I did on this site since I mocked up the basic layout in PS. - "Which font had you picked in the manual match dialog?"
With manual match I picked the matching Proxima Nova Soft SB Webfont font to give me as close to WYSIWYG as possible. - "If you pick another font (or even another face of Proxima Nova Soft) just as an experiment, does that crash too?"
I started a new site fresh and added some text using the system font Arial which displays correctly and Proxima Nova Soft Regular which displays incorrectly.
- When I matched the "2BBD71_0_0.woff" (the obfuscated name for Proxima Nova Soft Regular) to the system font Arial it did not crash; and.
- When I match it the system font Proxima Nova Soft Regular it did crash with the same TypographicSortKey message.
Are you able to re-create the issue on your end? Although I expect Adobe has the wherewithal to do it yourself which is what I would prefer, I would be happy to ask the font designer Mark Simonson and/or MyFonts permission to send you the system font (OTF and TTF) and webfont kit as I have it configured per my purchase from MyFonts. Mark has been prompt at responding to my emails in the past: mark@ms-studio.com.
After watching this video, another option I am considering is joining Muse Themes for theirTypekit Integration Widget (among other things) and creating a Proxima Nova Soft Typekit Webfont. The font was added to Typekit this last year well after I purchased it from Myfonts.com.
Ideally we won't have to go there since I would like to leverage Muse 2014 to self-host the webfont and use the system font in Muse for pure a WYSIWIG design experience which is a big part of why I am so invested into Muse. I also, at this time I would rather not pay for a Muse Themes annual subscription just for a widget that may or may not work to solve a problem with a font and software I already paid for.
In any case, I look forward to resolving this so I can at least start using the webfont version of Proxima Nova Soft with Muse as my web design/editing software regardless of the method. I spent a lot of time last night looking for an alternative to Proxima Nova Soft that comes as a webfont, with full knowledge that I may have the same problem with another font, and concluded it is still my first choice for this project.
I also would prefer to avoid going back to Dreamweaver or an HTML editor whereas; (A) I have VERY limited coding skills, and (B) I see great potential in continuing with Muse & Business Catalyst as a match for my limited web/ecommerce publishing skill set.
