Syncronize tool not working

Hi.

Premiere newbie here so probably operator error but I can't get the syncronize tool to work for me. Premiere CC 2014.

Not the end of the world, I can do it manually but it would certainly speed up my workflow.

I have two files, lasso them in the timeline, right click, hit syncronize and select audio as the option. And it does it's thing but gets them miles off. In fact, on one project even put one track way further down the timeline!

Can't see any obvious issues and I even have a couple of claps as a sync point.

Any tricks? Seems like it should be simple...
