Photoshop mockup to Dreamweaver

Hi guys. I created a homepage in Photoshop. I initially took a screen pic of a browser in a 1024x768 resolution, then pasted that into a Photoshop file, cleaned out the inner content and just used the browser its self to design in. That helps me to work in a standard size. It is going just fine for the most part. I created slices for images to insert into my Dreamweaver file. I noticed when I save images, they automatically save as 1024x768 and when I insert them into my Dreamweaver file, they are too big. Do I have to actually resize the images when I save for web? I assumed that since I was designing in that resolution, it should all just go together. It doesn't seem to. I tried slicing my logo and social network links as a banner to save for the web and insert in my Dreamweaver header section. If I save it as is in the 1024x768, it is too big and doesn't fit my header section at all. Just kind of confused on what I am doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
